About ÒRecon 1.3Ó This program reconstructs 3-D shape after histological slices (sections). It takes as input outlines of consequential sections drawn on monitor screen or on a tablet and generates a model of 3-D object. A reconstructed object surface is approximated by polyhedron with cross-sections corresponding to original slices. Program may run on both PPC and 068x0 machines but more complicated model will be better viewed on Power Macintosh. To create new object you may draw several simple sections which will be used as framework for 3-D model, or you may press Demo button in New Object dialog and pick up one of the primitive surfaces (ellipsoid, polygon or sigmoid). 3-D object is drawn as a wireframe or as a shaded surface. Macintosh QuickDraw drawing routines with the simplest face sorting algorithm are used for fast drawing (Fast Draw option). High quality rendering involves Z-buffer sorting and Guro interpolation. For faster drawing, model may be simplified by reducing the number of points in each section. The reducing factor may be vary from 10% to 100% (for best quality all points in section are used for surface approximation). To move or rotate an object, click and drag mouse in desired direction. The following buttons define object movement modes: - object displacement in direction of mouse movement; - object space rotation in direction of mouse movement; - object zoom in/out (mouse moving downward/upward).
