MacStereology ReadMe - 3 Dec 1995 ================================= About. ------ MacStereology is an Apple Macintosh package designed to collect and manipulate data from either binary images (PICT) or input by hand from a digitising tablet. The area of a profile of a cell or peak in a chart recording or the perimiter of a line can be measured. Alternatively, the co-ordinates of describing profiles on serial sections can be saved in order to use the data to make 3-D reconstructions that can be viewed from any angle with the parts shown in various plotting modes to see internal detail. It can also display stereo pairs, animate sequences of reconstructions and do translucent reconstructions. Volumes and surface areas can be calculated. MacStereology is not a full image processing package and is complemented by packages such as IMAGE available from the NIH archive. Demo. ----- UK English, US English and German versions of the program are available. The manual is currently in UK English only. This demo is UK English. Certain features, especialy the saving of data, have been disabled in this demo, but the data files supplied will give an idea of what the program can do.
