MASS Microsystemsª, Inc. QuickImageª 24 Video Frame Grabber Card READ ME! Dec 1, 1991 QUICKIMAGE 24 SOFTWARE VERSION 2.0 RELEASE NOTES Thank you for purchasing the QuickImage 24 Video Frame Grabber Card. We recommend printing and reading this READ ME! file carefully before installing the QuickImage 24, and then keeping the file as a supplement to the QuickImage 24 User's Guide and Reference Manual. There are five issues regarding this release of software that are not addressed in the User's Guide and Reference Manual. 1. Memory Considerations A large amount of memory is needed for manipulating Large, PAL or NTSC, 24-bit color images. If your computer has less than 8 megabytes of memory and you want full access to all software features, we recommend running the QuickImage 24 software in the Finder mode, rather than MultiFinder. 2. Apple 8¥24GC Compatibility The QuickImage 24 software does not utilize the accelerator portion of the Apple 8¥24GC card during the Filter Image procedure. If the accelerator is active during the Filter Image procedure, a System Error will occur. For this reason, we recommend deactivating the accelerator. Please refer to your Apple user's guide for instructions on this procedure. 3. Sequential Capture Function The Sequential Capture function is machine and memory dependent, therefore capture times will differ between machines. Before activating the Sequential Capture function, check the amount of disk space and memory you have available. A single image captured from video can be very large; keep in mind you will be capturing multiple images. Please refer to Appendix C - Memory Requirements, page 45 of the QuickImage 24 User's Guide and Reference Manual, for information on memory/storage requirements. 4. Multiple Window Controls If: a. the right Multiple Window Controls icon (which displays only one Image window, which is refreshed after each capture) is selected, and b. the image capture settings (size and color type) are changed between two image captures; then the image information listed in the lower left hand corner of the Image window may not be updated. To avoid confusion, we offer two suggestions; capturing only one size and color type image per software session; or when capturing differing image sizes and color types, use the left icon of the Multiple Window Controls (which displays multiple Image windows on the screen.) 5. Photoshop Plug-in Contrast Fix This release fixes a problem associated with the contrast settings for the Photoshop Plug-in. The contrast settings are now calibrated to a known standard. There should be no contrast difference between an image captured with the Photoshop Plug-in and the QuickImage application, as both are set to a calibrated standard. Once again, thank you for purchasing the QuickImage 24 Video Frame Grabber Card. Please read the entire User's Guide and Reference Manual before using the QuickImage 24 card.
