This directory contains miscellaneous programs and utilities that may be useful to NIH Image users. (The following list is incomplete.) [ctc_1.4.hqx] "Change Type and Creator" V1.4. To change a files type or creator, drag and drop it on top of the "ctc 1.4" icon. [dataThief_2.0b.hqx] dataThief is a program to reverse engineer a set of data from a given plot in a magazine or journal. The "Line Plot -> Data" macro that comes with NIH Image also extracts data from plots. [Fetch21.bin and Fetch21.hqx] Fetch is a slick utility that allows networked Macs to transfer files over the Internet using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). It does BinHex decoding and file decompression as the files are transferred. Available in both MacBinary (.bin) and Binhex (.hqx) format. [giffer108.hqx] Giffer is a shareware program useful for converting from GIF to Pict format, and vis-versa. [graphic_converter206.hqx] Graphic Converter is a shareware utility that converts pictures to different formats. It supports more than 50 file types. It also it has many useful features for picture manipulation. [image_workshop_1.0.hqx] Image Workshop 1.0 is from the Colorado Center for Astrodnamics Research at the University of Colorado. It is software for the scientific study of image data. [MacCubeView150.sit.hqx] MacCubeView is designed to display a texture map image of 3-D data. In this release, three simple ray-tracing techniques have been added. The data in mind is typically generated by medical imaging techniques such as CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Some geophysics techniques also produce suitable 3-D image data. [MacEnvy.hqx] A Control Panel that provides an informative display of your Mac's hardware and software operating environment. [MovieMaker13.hqx] Constructs a QuickTime movie from a series of PICT files stored in a folder. [ncsa] A directory containing several public domain image processing programs from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. Included is NCSA PalEdit, an applications for creating and customizing color palettes compatible with NIH Image. [mw_pascal_ppc_update.hqx] Converts Metrowerks Pascal PPC 1.0d1 to MW Pascal PPC 1.0d3. [picMerge1.4.hqx] Pic Merge is a program that will merge two halves of an 8-bit multi-image file generated by NIH-Image or in the BioRad confocal image series format. It's output is a series of 32 bit PICT files, numbered sequentially. [pics-quicktime.hqx] This is a Hypercard stack that can convert a QuickTime movie into a PICS file that NIH Image can open. Note that PICS files are limited to a maximum of 16MB. [PICTS_to_Movie.hqx] Take a sequence of PICT files and create a QuickTime movie with a choice of colors, frame rate, compression system and quality. [projectionist.hqx] A utility that allows you to animate stacks created by NIH Image and saved in PICS format. Because all the frames in the stack do not need to be loaded into RAM, Projectionist requires less memory than NIH Image.
