Welcome to Inclusion Counter v1.0

Inclusion Counter is a suite of NIH Image macros designed specifically for the automated enumeration and measurement of Chlamydial inclusions in cell culture and tissue sections. I have gone to considerable effort to ensure that Inclusion Counter is as intuitive as possible. I hope that even if you have no previous experience of NIH Image you will find these macros both easy to use and a significant aid to your research.

Registration

I would be very grateful if you would  register your copy of Inclusion counter. 

Why register Inclusion Counter? Well, why not?

If you register you will receive software updates and free advice. Inclusion Counter v1.0 will be the only version of Inclusion counter distributed freely over the internet. All future versions will be sent directly to registered users or in response to request. Inclusion counter is and will remain free. The purpose of registration is really so that you can give me feedback on Inclusion Counter allowing me to tailor future versions of inclusion counter to suit your needs. Finally, IÕve put a lot of hard work into Inclusion Counter and I would like to know who is using it.

¥ Under "Subject" type "Register Inclusion Counter". 
¥ In the "Body" of the email simply give details of where and what you are using Inclusion Counter for.

Installation

Installing Inclusion Counter is perhaps the hardest part of using this software. I have however, taken steps to make it easier for you. 

1. Drag the ÒROI FolderÓ supplied with Inclusion Counter into the folder called ÒPreferencesÓ in your ÒSystem FolderÓ.

2. In the ÒInclusion Counter FolderÓ double Click on the  ÒHelp With PathsÓ icon, this will automatically launch NIH Image and display a text window called ÒHelp With PathsÓ.

3. Choose ÒLoad Macros from WindowÓ from the ÒspecialÓ menu. Then choose ÒHelp With PathsÓ from the ÒspecialÓ menu, and follow the on screen instructions.

4. ÒHelp With PathsÓ will create a text file called ÒInclusion Counter Help FileÓ. You will be prompted to save this file, you may also find it useful to print a copy. 

5. The ÒInclusion Counter Help FileÓ should display the correct Path Name for ÒROIÓ at the bottom of the window.

6. If this Path Name does not end with Ò:ROI Folder:ROIÓ you have not chosen ÒROIÓ in ÒHelp With PathsÓ! Go back and choose ÒHelp With PathsÓ from the ÒspecialÓ menu and follow the on screen instructions.

7. Follow the instructions in the ÒInclusion Counter Help FileÓ.

8. Finally, discard the original file called ÒROIÓ in the ÒROI FolderÓ.

9. Inclusion Counter should now be ready to work!

¥ NB: If you move the location of the ÒROI folderÓ after you have run Òhelp with pathsÓ INCLUSION COUNTER WILL NOT WORK! Keep a copy of the original self extracting archive in case you need to repeat the installation process.
